Posted on 10/19/2022

The purpose of dressing up for Halloween is to have fun and to create school spirit at Fort Myers Middle Academy! Please read the costume guidelines in their entirety to ensure you are following the school guidelines for this day.

This is NOT a dress down day. If you are not in a costume you must wear your school uniform.

Students are NOT to bring candy to school with them on this day.

Costume Rules:

  1. Costumes may NOT have parts that interfere with learning. This means no masks or costumes that restrict movement or vision, prevent sitting at desks, or prevent participation in PE class. Costumes must not obstruct movement in the hallways.
  2. Costumes may NOT be violent or suggestive.
  3. Costumes may NOT promote violence or have accessories or props that could be used as a weapon.
  4. Masks are NOT permitted.
  5. Make-up or face-paints are permitted.
  6. NO bare midriffs or “revealing” clothing, such as short shorts, underwear or bathing suits.
  7. Appropriate close-toed shoes must be worn.
  8. You must be able to sit, walk, breathe, see, and hear in your costume (no masks that cover the face).
  9. Costumes CANNOT promote the use of drugs, alcohol, or weapons of any kind
  10. NO pretend “prop” weapons such as water guns, knives, or swords.
  11. Costumes MAY NOT be offensive or inappropriate in any way.
  12. Students SHOULD NOT wear costumes that make fun of others or make others feel uncomfortable.

If you are unsure about whether your costume is appropriate, please ask your teacher. If you are unsure about your costume and do not ask an adult, DO NOT wear it to school.

Administration has the final say as to whether costumes are appropriate or not.

If your costume is not appropriate, you will be asked to change into your uniform clothing.
